Hi,

I have a excel workbook which has a number of name ranges within it which are regonized as part of a macro when it run.

The problem i have is that when people fill it in they sometimes Cut&Paste cells over the named cell/range which causes the named range to be edited by the cell that was pasted in it which results in the named range being overwritten.

I was wondering if there was a macro I could write to prevent this from happening or at least warn the person to prevent them and that they should use paste special and paste the values.

Thanks!

Stephan

HI,

Thanks for the reply! That would be the answer to the question but I just realised that this wasn't the question I meant to ask!

I did lock the cells and have them password protected but people seem to eventually figure it out. So what I was looking at was the possibility to copy name ranges from an excel workbook (which would be the clean template) onto another one (the one that has been edited by the user)

i.e. if I was to give some tempalte.xls and they return me templateedit.xls I would like to copy all the name ranges from template.xls onto templateedit.xls without changing the values. If that makes sense...
