I have opened a dodge workbook on which disabled the Feld List button in the pivot table contextual tab Options>Show>Field List.<o></o>
I found the following line of code which confirms the command as being disabled by returning a FALSE message.<o

Now I need the code tore-enable this command. Any Ideas?<o

Thanks for your reply.

I bhave run your code but it didn't work. I think something more complicated may have disabled the Field List command. theGetEnabledMso method still shows FALSE.

If you open Excel in Safe Mode (hold down Ctrl key while opening normally) is the command enabled? If so, then a startup workbook or addin is most likely the problem (assuming you have this issue with all workbooks and not just one).

Yep! It works fine in safe mode.

I also notice that, in normal mode, some add-ins (projects) which I don't recognise show in the project window of the VBE. Don't know how these stuff ended up there. One of them has the following code:

'Entry point for RibbonX button click
Sub ShowATPDialog(control As IRibbonControl)
Application.Run ("fDialog")
End Sub

'Callback for RibbonX button label
Sub GetATPLabel(control As IRibbonControl, ByRef label)
label = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("RES").Range("A10").Value

I have tried to comment all these out but whe I restart Excel it shows up again uncommented. Don't know if this could be the problem.

I'd start by checking the addins list and disabling any that you do not recognise. If none of them look like the ones you see in the PE, then check your XLSTART folders (there are 2) for xlam files.

I have disabled all addins and the problem persists. Do you think my copy of Excel might have been corrupted beyond repair?

Search your hard drive for an Excel.OfficeUI file (make sure you search in hidden files and folders too). If you find one, delete it. Also check for an Excel14.xlb file somewhere.

I have found both files. The Excel14.xlb found in two locations. What are these files all about? Should I delete all of them?

I would move them all to a temporary folder somewhere so you can reinstate if necessary (they are basically toolbar customisation files), then start Excel and see if the problem persists.
