Help, I've inherited a worksheet where the previous author used a ' infront of all the numbers. I can't seem to change the format and use the numbers as numbers they can only be used as text. Any suggestions? Thanks

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Hi fellow beancounter, welcome to the Board

Enter 1 in a spare cell, copy, select "text" numbers, paste|special, check the multiply radio button.

put a zero in a spare cell, select & copy it, select the range of 'text numbers', go to edit | paste special, select add, hit OK.

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!

Here is one way to do it. You could create a new worksheet and in cell A1 put the following:

=value(Sheet1!A1)

This would convert the value of cell A1 on Sheet1 to a number. Copy the formula and paste it throughout the new worksheet to the same size as the original worksheet.

Another way to do it would be to copy the area of the original that you want to convert. Then Paste Special.....VALUES.

Take your pick.

Thanks Phantom1975 your second suggestion worked. The other paste special way didn't work and I tried them all.

Thanks again
