How to retain link using Vlookup?

I've got a sheet w/ a list of names and contact info including email addresses. I've got a project sheet w/ a small section that looks up this info using vlookup. The problem is that when it looks up the email link all I get is text and have to return to the original table to click and send. Is there a way have it such that the link is maintained?

=HYPERLINK("mailto:"&YourLookupFormula)

Sorry I thought it worked because it created a hyperlink but that link gives an error when I try to use it. Any thoughts?

Got it. I took out the "mailto:" thinking it was just some text.

It worked when I tried it with a valid EMail address. What is your formula returning?
