Hi guys, thanks for the help on the last one. I have my total parts inventory created and now would like to cross reference between another workbook that has descriptions according to part number. Here is a sample of what i want to do:

book1 book2
Part number Part number Description
FC9520TMX1 FC9520TMX1 Transmux

book2 has all avaliable equipment from the manufacture.
book1 has only that which I currently stock.
I would like to port the description from book2 into book1

hope this is clear.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Hi
in book1 col B insert the formula
B1=vlookup(A1,[book2.xls]sheet1!A1:B100,2,false)
drag it till the end of data
