Hi,

I have a list of letters in Column A that include about 3000 letters. they are 6 digits long and have a combo of letters and numbers but some are only letters.
These letters differ each month and not all appear each month the letters differ daily.
So whats the best why other than filter each letter and deleting all but one to to find how many total letters was used each month. that's time consuming atm.
There were 162 different letters used in total, this is what im looking for the total different letters used. Could a macro be made to do this.

Thanks in advance
Marty

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Thanks Domenic for the reply.

The examples are count whats repeated and how mant times is occurs.
Im looking for the total number of different letters used, not how many of each is used.

Thanks anyway.

For clarity, can you please post a small sample of the data, along with the expected results?

Thanks for reply but i forgot about the advanced filter and unique sort. This has now done what i wanted. Looking for a long winded answer when it was already there in a simple form.

Domenic,
I will be using the page you sent to colllated the totals along side the letters.

Thanks

Marty
