how to show comments on cell selection only?

Hi,

I have a excel file in which some particular cells have comments which only appear when that cell is selected. They do not appear on moving the mouse on them. Also the comment pointer which generally appears in red on top right corner of the cell is also not showing.

I tried doing commenting like this on few cells but could not...... can someone please advice me how to do this.

Hi

I think you want the data validation facility to do this

Highlight your cells go to Data>>Data Validation and click the Input tab, in here you type your comment and once finished click OK, the cell will now show the comment when selected only.

That sounds like a Data Validation message. Select one of those cells and go to Data > Validation to check.
