Hi everybody,

In a column range, i need to enter sequences of minutes and seconds as follows:

12:08
13:19
16:49
28:13

I had changed the format of cells to mm:ss but if i enter 12:08 excel shows it as 08:00 unless i enter it with the hour (00:12:08)
is there any way to avoid entering the hour each time but simply minutes and seconds?

Thank you for your help.

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
Are you doing calculations with them? Otherwise, why does it matter how it's entered, if you know it means minutes and seconds, just enter it that way and format the cells as [h]:mm

And if you ARE doing calculations with it, all you have to do is
1. Do what Hotpepper said
2. Add a devide by 60 to your other calculations to turn [h]:mm to mm:ss

...and if you want to be explicit, use the functions for minutes and seconds like this:

Code:
        yestMinute = CStr(Minute(today))
        yestSecond = CStr(Second(today))

By applying what Hotpepper said, entering minutes and seconds without the hour was possible by formatting to [h]:mm
but trying to sum all minutes and seconds didnt result the total as minutes and seconds but hours instead, unless i divided by 60 and format to hh:mm:ss

Thank you both for your support!
