How to stop an application without closing the Book?

I was trying to attach a object link to my excel and now the application will not stop. I have tried the esc key and ctrl break and didnt work.

Anyone know how to do this?

if it hasn't stopped, go to task manager and end session for the excel, because obviously its not going to stop by the normal route

Task Manager will stop excel and i will lose my data. Any other options?

if its still locked then i would suggest no, I've never successfully managed that.

Not sure if anyone else can access the file as read only and save that from another session
