Solved. Thank-you, I never would have never guessed that.

==================

I have two xls files that when I click on a hyperlink, the xls file closes.

Other xls files keep the the xls file open, like "Open in a new window"

How can I control this? I can't find the difference in the files. (no macros in either)

How can I stop the xls from closing when I click on hyperlink?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
It's not actually closing, just hiding itself- you can get back to the original by pressing Alt-Left cursor arrow. This only happens when the workbook is 'clean' (ie no changes since the last save). You can make a workbook 'dirty' on opening by including a volatile function (eg NOW()) somewhere in the workbook. There's also an article on this in MS's knowledge base.
