how to use a formula in a cell with letters? supp

suppose in cell a1 i have gc 123 i apply a formula in cell a2 as =a1+1 but it doesnt give. so what can i do so that it returns gc 124?

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

Welcome to the board,

click the bottom corner of cell A1 and fill down A2 A3 etc

a little box will appear to the bottom right of the last cell you filled down to called autofill options.

From here choose fill series.

Or....


type gc 123 in A1 and highlight all the cells where you want the value to increase.

So say highlight A1 and select down to cell A10
Choose edit> fill> series> inm the type section choose autofill and press OK
