Hyperlink Anomoly

Can anybody shed any light on this? Whenever I click on a hyperlink within a spreadsheet I use I'm taken to the document I wish to view. However, the spreadsheet with the hyperlink automatically closes. Is this normal. Is there anyway of preventing this?

I use Office 97.

I recall having the same problem at one point. I was using 97', but I use 2000 and 2002 now, and I don't have that problem. I never really looked into why it happened. It was annoying.
