Hyperlink Changes the Direction of Slashes

I have a spreadsheet which was created in Excel XP which has hyperlinks to other documents which work. I made that spreadsheet a read-only for other people to use and have access to other read-only documents. The hyperlink is changing the slashes. For example:

The hyperlink on my sheet says:

c:cowchickenpighorse.xls

The read-only pulled up in Excel 2000 shows:

c:cowchickenpig/horse.xls

Is there a patch? or Am I doing something incorrectly?

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Nevermind, I think we figured it out. It appears to be a problem with modifying/creating a document in Excel 2002 and reading it in Excel 2000. Do you think there is a patch?
