Hyperlinks to an updated website

I need to create a hyperlink to a web site that provides live data (meaning it is up to the minute information).

I am using the HYPERLINK function =HYPERLINK("Website","Live Report")

It displays the words "Live report" in the cell like it is supposed to. But it will not go to the web site. By the way, this is an example...I do actually have a site address in for that portion of the function.

If I go to the site directly (not using the HYPERLINK function) then it works fine. After I have been there the HYPERLINK function will go there but only to the page I have been before. It will not let me pull the live information.

I don't understand this...please help.

P.S. I know you are going to ask if I am using the address that displays in the address bar through explorer. No, I use the address in order to pull the live data...not after the live data is displayed.

I hope I haven't made things more confusing.

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
I think the problem may have to do with relative hyperlinks...any help would be appreciated.

does this work on a "normal" web site (used loosely  ). would you mind posting what you have?

Carrie -

You may have already tried this, but have you tried using the Ctrl+K function to enter the hyperlink in your desired cell? From the dialog box that comes up, you're able to choose or enter a web address in for the link. This seems to work great for me.

HTH,

Check the help for the HYPERLINK function, especially the very first paragraph.

My guess is that you need to use Data | Import External Data > New Web Query...
