i have to save the weight a stack of sheets. So i want to do it in MS Access that's why i create a database with only one table named "tblweight"
i set three fields in my table
1..........ID.........Autonumber
2..........QTY.....number
3.........weight...number

In QTY textbox i put the number of sheets of every stack
here i want a after update event on [QTY] that get that weight scale data into [WEIGHT] textbox that connected with my PC via a COM Port
i search the solution on internet and get this code but it is not compiling. how its works

any solution or suggestion

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Go back and get the rest of the code.
You have various Comm functions after that to be used as well, so will likely need the Comms module that would be with that code, that contains all those functions.

'
' This VB module is a collection of routines to perform serial port I/O without
' using the Microsoft Comm Control component. This module uses the Windows API
' to perform the overlapped I/O operations necessary for serial communications.
'
' The routine can handle up to 4 serial ports which are identified with a
' Port ID.
'
' All routines (with the exception of CommRead and CommWrite) return an error
' code or 0 if no error occurs. The routine CommGetError can be used to get
' the complete error message.

Yes, you need all that in a standard module to be able to use any of the functions in that code.

I have never played around with com ports in code, and have no inclination to start now. :)
Go back again to where you got the code and read the process. I am pretty sure the code would not have been posted without an explanation on how to use it?

AFAIK com ports are always numeric, so you need to decide what RS232 is meant to be.
