This Newbie to Excel would like to know how the LEN function works in this example...
=IF(LEN(D11),IF(D11+C11<F11,"LOST","WON"),"")

Excel undertands the FALSE boolean as 0, and TRUE as any number different than 0. So, if the cell D11 has anything in it, the LEN() formula makes Excel calculate the TRUE part of the IF...

A wild guess...

=IF(COUNTBLANK(C11:D1),"",IF(SUM(C11:D11)<F11,"LOST","WON"))

is probably what you are looking for?

Juan, I've noticed that without the "")
on the end of the function it returns ####
When there is no data entered and just using a regular "if" statement without the LEN function with no data entered it returns it as false or "won". So, in order to have it return with it blank, the statement needs to have the LEN funtion with "") at the end..
Correct ??
