Hi everyone,

can someone please advise me if there is a way to get excel to check two cells to see if they match even if only a part of the cell matches

I have a database with the first two line are a bit muddled up,
so for example

B1 should be name and C1 should be adderess
but some of them have the name duplicated so B1 and C1 are the same, I need to identify these and remove them, the problem is there are not alwatys exactly the same,
i.e B1 might say "T C T Contracting" and C1 "TCT Contracting"

is there anyway to get excell to look and if the cells are similar let me know
im thinking a fomual in D1 that would say
If B1 = or nearly = C1 then 1, if not 0
something like that would be perfect

please help

Tony
