Identifying the Largest Value from Duplicate Identifiers

Hello.

I have a list with duplicate identifiers in column A and test score data in column B such that:

I want to add a column (C) that identifies the higher score for duplicate (or multiple) student IDs. The end result should look something like this:

The (?) is because I'm guessing that if there is no duplicate, the value will automatically be counted as highest.

I just figured that one solution is to make a pivot table that has the student ID field "row labels". Next, put "Score" in "Values", and change field settings from "count" to "max".
