Can you have a formula that if a cell is blank it will copy a value from another cell

i.e. if C:4 has no date copy A:4 to A:100

In A100

=IF(C4="",A4,"C4 Has Date")

sorry im not very good at explaining things

I have a number in A:4 which I want copied to another cell i.e. A:100 if C:4 is blank or preferably If C:4 has a date i.e. 04/10/06

great im starting to understand it but what i realy need is if it is not blank does that make sence?

Sorry mate, not entirely sure what you're after.

If you change the "" in the formula I wrote to C4 it will mean:

if cell C4 is blank, copy the value in A4 into cell A100, otherwise (i.e. cell C4 is NOT blank) copy C4's value into cell A100

in that case, in cell A100:

=if(not(isblank(C4)),A4,"'))

you can change the "' to something else if you like
