I've been so frustrated trying to find an answer.

I'm trying to get the text in the corresponding cell in column A to display when column C matches the number in B1.

I feel like there's something simple I'm overlooking. Any help (even condescending ) would be much appreciated.

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Maybe:

=IF(C2=$B$1,A2,"")

This worked for the first cell but that was it. The remaining cells display nothing ("").

This is what I have in column D:

=IF(C:C=$B$1,A:A,"")

Each cell in column D references a different tab, but outside of the tab reference, the formula remains the same.
