How do I check an array. meaning if A1 = b1, b2, or b3 then do X if not do y, as oposed to doing =if(or(a1=b1, a1=b2,a1=b3...)

Try:

=IF(ISNUMERIC(MATCH(A1,B1:B3,0)),*do x*,*do y*)

Can you please provide a sample of your data?

The contents of your cell A1 is not what the ISNUMERIC is referring to, although it should be ISNUMBER It is checking to see if MATCH returned a number.

=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(A1,B1:B3,0)),"do x","do y")
