IF statement and COUNTIF?

I've been using this formula to count the number of cells that matched this criteria

=COUNTIF(U2:U300,"Sourcing")+COUNTIF(U2:U300,"Approved")

Due to some changes at work, my needs are different, and I haven't been able to achieved the desired results on my own.

I'd like to perform an IF statement, and if TRUE, then perform the above calculation. As an example, Y2:Y300, will have Name A or Name B throughout. I want the formula to perform the above calculation if the cell in column Y says "Name A".

Any help would be appreciated!

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
See if this does what you need,

=SUM(COUNTIFS(Y2:Y300,"Name A",U2:U300,{"Sourcing","Approved"}))
