I'd like to make an IF statment that says: "if such-and-such a cell is blank, make the destination cell blank also, otherwise replicate the contents of the cell into the destination cell".

The best I've come up with so far is this rather lame attempt:

=IF('Previous_Sheet'!A1=" "," ", 'Previous_Sheet'!A1)

For cells with no data at all (i.e. never been filled or have had their contents cleared) the result is "0" whereas I just wanted a blank cell. I suspect there is a more complete and more elegant solution than this! If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Cheers,

Bob

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Thanks Andrew... your solution is actually fairly obvious when you think about it! No points for me for being a genius. :(
