Hi! I have a question about a formula entering data into a cell if it contains certain data.

example:

if cell G2 contains "AL", then J3 "Alabama Insurance Department"

I want a cell to know if it contains a state's abbreviation, to enter it's Insurance Department in another cell.

So...if G2 contains any other state abbreviation, the enter "__________ Insurance Department in J3.

Is this possible.

Thanks for any help.

Scott

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
You can setup a lookup table on the side with State abbreviations in one column and corresponding state name in the other. Then use Vlookup() to extract.

e.g.

=Vlookup(G2,$X$1:$Z$50,2,0)&" Insurance Department")

Where X1:Z50 houses the state table.
