if then on dates

Trying to draw an if then on dates. the formula doesn't seem to read them.

=if(a2>10/1/02,if(a4<12/31/02))

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Every date has a number assigned to it - type in a date and then format the cell to general. Your formula should work without the need to use the number but some find it easier. If your date does not come up with a value then you have the date set as text in which case you will need to change this to a value...simple enough. Let us know...
