Hello everyone, I will really use some help from all you experts in MS Excel..........

I have two tabs
Tab A: Name, Status (Blank), C, D
Tab B: Name, Status, C, D, E
I would like to do a lookup for a TabA:Name in TabB: Name and if matches return value of TabB:Status field in TabA:Status field

I tried something like this but not working:

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($B2,'New Dom9 Inventory Dump'!B:B,11,FALSE),"No Match")

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.

Welcome to the Board!

For one thing, the range you are looking up is only one column wide (see part of formula highlighted in red), but you are trying to tell Excel to return the 11th column of that range (see blue highlighted part).
Rich (BB code):
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($B2,'New Dom9 Inventory Dump'!B:B,11,FALSE),"No Match")
You cannot return the 11th column of a 1 column range.

Hello, thanks a lot for the quick response. I actually have multiple columns in TabB (around 40+) and I was looking to add value from Column 11 from TabB to TabB if the value for B column matches in both tabs

Arguments 2 and 3 of the VLOOKUP function depend on each other.
Argument 3 tells it which column from the columns listed in argument 2 to return.
"B:B" is only one column. So you cannot return the 11th column of "B:B".
It would need to be at least "B:L", i.e.
Rich (BB code):
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($B2,'New Dom9 Inventory Dump'!B:L,11,FALSE),"No Match")
