IIF formula error

On a report, I have the following formula for a text box. The idea behind it is that if there is no data, the box is empty and can be shrunk/hidden and if there is data it will be displayed along with a brief title.

=IIf(IsNull([Deficiency_Status]=True),"","Deficiencies: " & [Deficiency_Status])

While this works as advertised for the empty/null values if there is a value the "#Type!" error message is displayed.

Any ideas?
