Hi folks

Can anyone advise on image control in Acess 2003.

I have a database with about 200 entries each of which I would like to link to a unique image. Images are in a separate folder.

I would like to be able to pan and zoom in and out of the images from within Access.

Any help would be much appreciated

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Northwind, the example database that comes with Access gives an example of linking static images to records. Check that out.

As for the ability to pan and zoom, that would require a specialised control. I know of none but someone else may be able to help with that.

Thanks Revver.

I can link images directly from within the main form. The problem is linking to data in the main form from within a subform.

I have about 200 images in a subform each of which I need to link to an indivdual number in the main form

I haven't tried linking images to subforms but surely, if you can do it on the main form, then you use the same principals on the subform.

What happens when you do that?

Have you tried opening the subform as a main form to see if you can link images that way?

How are you linking the images?

Are you storing their paths in a field and then using that to load the image to an Image Control

Hi Revver / Norie

Thanks for your replies.

I am linking images and automating with VBA code as per Access rules.
The problem is with the record source which differs between the main form and subform.

At present I have a table with IDs (1 to 168) in one column, the image names in another column (1.jpg to 168.jpg) and a final column which indicates whether or not the image has correctly loaded.

and

I have a form which loads the images - this is a single parental form. As I say - I need this to work in a subform by looking up the ID in the parental form (or any other way - just so that the image for the ID in the parental form shows in the subform).

I am avoiding OLE as I read it uses alot of memory and / or causes bugs (closes the system if there are many images).

But how are you doing it, especially the subform part?

Also what's the datasource of the subform?

Is there a Child/Master link/relationship setup between the 'main' form and subform?

There is a Child/Master link/relationship setup between the 'main' form and subform. This was established with code to automate text items in the subform which relate to the parent (master form)

Not sure I can construct the code to automate the images but thanks for the links. I will attempt the zooming / panning if and when I can get the relevant images to load
