Imported data will not format

Excel Facts

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Could you give a little bit more information?

What type of data are you importing?

How are you importing it?

Where are you importing it from?

Welcome to the Board!

A lot of times imported data can be recognized as text. If you highlight the column(s) in questions and goto Format-->Cells-->Apply your format, then goto Data-->Text to Columns-->Finish it will apply that format.

Hope that helps,

Smitty

Excel file is sent to me with data ( numbers ) pulled from "other" data sources. I am to format the data using the currency format and then crunch the numbers several ways. Usually I use the Data | Text To Columns tool to get the data to respond. This time - no workee.
