Does anyone have some ideas on how to work with imported data that that has headers and footers every 40 or so rows? The imported data often is thousands of rows long. Also, the headers and footers use numerous merged cells.

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
I need to correct my #3 thread in response to #2. Should say - Yes, the headers are the same. The headers take up seven different groups of merged cells. Currently I've been using booleans to get the data off to the right in blank columns then pasting the values on a clean worksheet to sort. I was wondering about better methods. Turns out the page numbers are in a separate cell with the footers.

it would just be a simple macro something like if a = name the entire.row.delete

what column does your header start in? and what is the first header?

The first part of the seven part header is in the merged columns B-K. The header says, "Report Date: Mon 03/07/2011"

The dates are the same for the report Date: Mon 03/07/2011 part of the header. Other parts of the header have Start Date and another part has the End Date. The biggest part of the imported repeating header has the business name and the name of the report below it and is in merged columns O-AS with 3 merged rows. There are also column headings that repeat.

The page numbers would be the footer section of the report prior to importing into Excel (i.e. Page 1 of 1000)
