While viewing the MrExcel tip card, the section for relative and absolute references displays the following formula:

=+B5*(1+$B$2).

If the card is not accessible, $B$2 has a %, 4.1 to be exact. B5 has a price of 1.76. the formula is in cell C5.

My question is why the "+" after the equal sign. If I remove the "+" the result are the same. I have come across this on a few spreadsheet and never could understand the relevance.. Please explain...

Thanks in advance!

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
I've heard that since the keypad does not have an equal sign, that the + will work as an equal sign and Excel upon confirmation Excel inserts the equal sign.

The Champion is correct. When ever I enter data and formulas I use the 10 keypad and the + sign is the easieast to use and does represent =.
