Incorrect VLOOKUP Results

Please can anyone help?

I have a spreadsheet on which I store data which is accessed by and linked to other spreadsheets using the VLOOUP function.

The file and its links have worked entirely satisfactorily for over ten years until a few weeks ago but now the results of the VLOOKUP formula are incorrect.

Has anyone experienced this before and is there a simple fix I am missing?

I would suggest you double check that all the numbers actually are in ascending order then. That sort of behaviour sounds exactly like what you would get if it's not properly sorted. And make sure that all the numbers are actually numbers, not text (or that they are all text)

Another way to check - make the formula:

=VLOOKUP(L10,'C:\AP 2006\Excell\Management.xlsm'!InvDat,2,FALSE)

and see if that returns the right answer. If it does, then your table is not properly sorted.
