Hello master gurus. I have a question for everyone.

I have an Excel spreadsheet with a list of 2000 friends from a site I like. in each row, I have facts about each friend. One of these facts is how long the friend has been a member of the site.

The problem is: After I enter how long the friend has been a member of the site, the number does not increase every day.

Example: Carl friend for 167

I want to see the 167 increase by 1 every day.

This way, every time I look at my excel spread sheet, I see exactly how long Carl has been a friend at the site.

Hope I explained it correctly.

Thanks for your support & suggestions.

Hi and Welcome to the Board.
Assuming the "start" dates are in cell A1.
If so, insert another column next to it and put in the formula
Code:
=TODAY()-A1

Copy down as far as required

I tried that but no go.

Actually the number 167 is in cell J1

Tomorrow, I want the cell to read 168

Thanks for everyones support

How did you get the 167 in J1 ?
Was it a manual entry or date based ?
My formula will work if A1 is the start date

Rather than the no. of days of membership, is it possible for your data to contain the join date instead? That would make more sense and make calculations easier.

Manual base entry. Everything in the spreadsheet so far is manual entry.

I just need the days the member has been on site, to increase each day.

Ok, as my first post suggested, and Weavers comment...have a join date somewhere on the rowt as part of the friends details.
Then the No of days can be easily calculated using the today function.

well here is the thing. I goto the friends page at the site. It says the friend as been on for 165 days. It would take me a long time to figure out what date that was. and to do that for 2000 friends. WOW, I go nuts.lol

No easier way?

Create a new column for join date and enter = today() - A3 , assuming A3 holds the number of days they have been a friend. Then copy down for all rows. Then copy and paste these values on top of themselves. Then enter Michael M's formula in A3.

The copy and paste mentioned in gsBelbins post is...
after you have applied his / her formula
Select the column of data
Edit / Copy
Edit / Paste Special / Values Only
then apply my formula
