HI,

I gave up on vlookup cause too many #N/A's were coming up.

When I drag down my index and match, I made the values for index range static and match range static.

It's copying the same value when I drag down. Any explanation?

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
=INDEX('iCAPS '!$O$1:$O$87566,MATCH('Issue ID Stats'!A3,'iCAPS '!$E$1:$E$87566,0))

Doesn't do the row column intersection scan. Is it my static values?

Are you sure your lookup value (i.e. 'Issue ID Stats'!A3) appears on your lookup range?

=INDEX('iCAPS '!$O$1:$O$87566,MATCH('Issue ID Stats'!A3,'iCAPS '!$E$1:$E$87566,0))

Doesn't do the row column intersection scan. Is it my static values?

Is A3 supposed to be dynamic? Are you doing the index/match against each cell in column A beginning with A3 and then dragging it down, or is A3 a static input you're looking up against?

Also, index match will give you the same exact #N/A errors if the result doesn't exist. You can solve that with an iferror function (in 2007+) or with an If(ISerror function for earlier versions.

I suggest you post a sample of your data and the desired results using the html maker. See my signature if you don't know how to do that.
