Hi there. I have a long list of data in a column which has both alphabets and figures. I have used "find and replace" to remove the alphabets but now I need to reinsert the alphabets again. How do I do it? My alphabets are placed before the figures, i.e. C212. Thanks.

Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
Is it always a C before the numbers?

If so you can use a formula like ="C"&A1 in a spare column and then just copy...paste special...values over the original data.

Hi Domski. Thanks for your reply. I have at least 30 different alphabets. Is there another way around? Regards.

You will need to give a bit more info particularly relating to the layout of your worksheet and the logic that you will need to apply to know what character to place before each number.

Hi cc9083

As you may notice if you read your posts in this thread you say you want to add a letter to the numbers but you don't give any information about which letter to add in each case.

Does this mean you want to add a random letter or is there a logic to choose the letter and you forgot to post if?

Hi there. Sorry for not being specific. I need to insert various alphabets ranging from single to double and I also realise that those data are unique (some figures are the same but with different alphabets). So I don't think I can perform any insertion without getting the right data in the first place. Luckily, I have the original copy attach in my e-mail. Thanks again.

Why don't you just copy or use the original data?

If you can't then how are you going to determine which 'alphabets' to got with each number.:)

cc9083 - let's be clear.
This is an alphabet
Code:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

This is NOT an alphabet
Code:
C
but it is often described as an alpha character.
