I've been told that you can insert pdf files into an Excel spread by Insert -> Object -> Adobe Acrobat File, but this displays the error message "cannot insert file." Are there any other ways to do this?

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
I don't know if you got your answer by now but if you open up your excel file and also open up your pdf file. Click on the Graphices Select Tool (icon on tool bar) then drag the box over your pdf file then right click in the box and copy. Go back to your excel file, right click and paste the image.

Thank you for the reply. I have been able to paste the data into the spread, but it appears in full form. Is there a way to paste an icon, preferably within a cell?

It sounds like what you want is to be able to have an icon that links you to that document? Do this and see if this is what you want.

Click on Cell in excel and go to insurt, insert object, create from file tab, browse, look for file, insert, check "display as icon", ok.

This applies an icon then when you click on it you get the document.

Hope this helps.
