I need to put today's date at the beginning of several hundred cells that already have text in the cells. Is there any way to do this other than going to each cell and doing "ctrl+;"??? If there is, it would save so much time.

Easy way would be to have todays date enter in all the rows having text and the using & connector to join the date.

suppose you have col A1:A3000 with Text then you can add another col besides col A say col B

Now put the forumula in cell b1 as =today() copy the cell b1 and then select all the range where you want the date to have..

rightclick -> paste special -> formula

ctrl + 1 to format all your selected cell to date.

now in col c have a formula

= a1& " " & b1

right click the Auto Fill handler and it will fill col uptill you have your dates

Thank you for your help but what I get in Column C is for example "37999 joe blow went down the street" instead of "1/13/2004 joe blow went down the street". In Column C the date appears as 1/13/2004. It only changes with the formula. How can I change this?

Thanks.

correct the formula:

= a1& " " & b1

to:

= a1& " " & text(b1,"dd/mm/yy")
