Inserting images onto Excel worksheets

What format do I need to insert images into Excel so when printed, they are not deformed? I have an image that is square with a solid white background. On the white background is a blue circle. When viewing it the circle is perfectly round however when printed the circle is sort of oblong. I have tried both BMP and JPG formats. Is this an issue with how Excel interrupts vector vs. raster graphics?
