interaction with other applications

hi friends,

i need to know how to interact with other application using macros..

for eg: i am using vb6.0 application which generates me a report..
and i have to save that report in a notepad file..

can any one help me to generate report from excel...

The following will copy a range then open note pad and paste in, it is using the shell command

Range("B5:D11").Copy
Shell "Notepad.exe", vbNormalFocus
SendKeys "^v"
