Invalid Character value for cast specification

Hi all.

I have two access dbs. In the first one, i have a number field with the "precision" of 15. In the second db i got the same data but using sum over the number field. The "precision" is set to 28 automatically.

Now if i try to import that data into excel pivot i get an error "Invalid Character value for cast specification" for the number field in the second db, but NO error for the first db.

I'm guessing that the "precision" may be the actual problem, but i cant change it because access claims that i do not have enough ram to perform that change (lots of data).

Does anyone of you have experience with that error? Maybe even a workaround?

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
I succeeded changing it to 15, but the "invalid bla" error remains the same. Does anyone know another possible errorsource?

It seems to work if i change 'decimal' to 'double'. But again i dont not have enough ram...argh.

Any ideas?

Strange -- Double takes LESS memory than Decimal. You should be able to convert to Double, unless you have a huge database and not much memory on board.
