Hi all,

I have a specific question but this may be helpful to others if the wider point can be solved.

One of my colleagues is a user of the Morningstar add-in for Excel and links much of his worksheet to Morningstar's data using the =MSTS() function, amongst others.

I currently do not have access to the Morningstar add-in or data links this provides.

As this is saved in a shared area, if I open the document I can view the values - as long as I don't edit the links. At present, I am having to ask my colleague to update the values on his PC every time I need something to be updated and this is very cumbersome. I have access to the document and my colleague is on the same shared network as I am.

My question is: Is it possible to update the link values without having access to the add-in?

I thought maybe I could write to the closed workbook, but I think my colleague would still need to open the workbook in order for the links to be updated. I thought of potentially setting up an automated task to update the sheet every few minutes but I presumed this would slow his computer down significantly

Many thanks for any assistance, this is my first question on the forum, having lurked for many years, so if I have not structured it correctly then I apologise.

Josh
