I need to create a pivot table type of file but unstead of pivoting on one item (such as a market) I would like to enable users to select from a list of groups (such as South East Markets). If the 'list' is selected each market would be listed (Tampa, Atlanta, etc). Does that functionality exist in Excel already? Do you know of software I can use that is out there? Please help [/i]

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
If you include a new category in your data (say, "Market Region") you can set which cities belong (exclusively) to each Market Region, and then use Market Region as the page control field for the Pivot Table.

Does that get you where you need to be?

Dean,
If I understand you correctly I don't think that does it. I'd like the page control field to be "Geography Lists" with the options being "East Markets", "West Markets", etc. When East Markets is chosen I want the table to list Boston, NYC, Hartford.

Hobie - I think that is exactly what you will get if you include "Geography List" as a new field in your data. You may have to use a lookup table to assign cities to the correct region, but once that is done you can set the Geography" as a page control and then table will list the appropriate cities - you will have to change the page control value from "All" (the default) to the name of the region you are interested in.
