Hi there,

I am given a ready-made pivot table having a field with incorrect information so I want to make correction on the source data

(i.e in the below example Banana should be categorized as 'Fruit' instead of 'Vegetable')

However, I cannot find any column in the source data representing the 'Category'.

I have checked to make sure no column is hidden and even checked on the Named Ranges, but found nothing. It is as if the categorization is browsed from out-of-nowhere~~~

Do you have any idea on how I can locate it?

Thanks a lot.

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
you should be able to double click the entry and that should open up the original data on a new sheet

Thank you for the input. I tried but it did not work :( As of now I give up and have no choice than to create another column and pivot again

Can you upload you upload a copy of your workbook to a free file hosting site like www.box.com or www.dropbox.com?
Mark the file for sharing and post the link it provides in the thread (make sure that you amend any sensitive data before uploading).

Here's the link to the file:

In the pivot table, field named 'Group2' (column C) having some false information that I want to correct (correction in column B).
Just that I don't know where the data source of 'Group2' is for correction.

I really appreciate if you could take a look at this and help me. Thank you for your time.

Hi mole999, the OP isn't after a copy of the source values but rather where the source is so they can amend it.
The source is at E:\6. Statistics\Y2019\[YTD Vietnam Oils & Fat statistic 2019.xlsb]raw'!$AM:$BB
