For the sake of argument, the user puts a date in cell A1. Is it possible to have Excel determine what the date for the Sunday of that week is? This may seem bizarre, but I’m building a fitness tracker for my workers over here and I have a calendar built with a lot of “=(cell)+1” to populate the dates.

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
I think this is what you need
Code:
=A1-WEEKDAY(A1,1)+1
