I am using the following equation so that I will not have error messages in my spreadsheet:

G18=-IF(ISERROR((E18-F18)/F18),"n/a",(E18-F18)/F18)

However, whenever F18 is zero I still get a #value error in cell G18. Do you have any suggestions. I do not want to type a hardcoded "n/a" in my spreadsheet.

Thanks,

Remove the "-" sign before the IF statement.

Its your minus sign at the start, you can't have minus "n/a"

just move the minus into the final result

IF(ISERROR((E18-F18)/F18),"n/a",-(E18-F18)/F18)

How about if you just check for 0 in F18?

=IF(F18=0,"n/a",-(E18-F18)/F18)
