Hi folks,
I have a spreadsheet which I've been using successfully for months.
I updated it this morning with some text. To achieve this I had to unprotect the spreadsheet and unfreeze panes.
I made my changes, put freeze panes back on, protected it again and then saved it.
Now when I try to scroll right or left using the arrow keys on the keyboard the cursor moves only within a restricted range of cells.
The top 8 rows are frozen and vertical scrolling with either the mouse wheel or vertical arrows works fine.
The cells are a mixture of locked/unlocked/hidden right across the spreadsheet i.e. both within the area that will scroll and outside that area.
I didn't change any formatting on the spreadsheet other than reapplying the freeze panes after making my changes.
I have tried unfreezing and refreezing but to no avail.
Strangely, Scroll Lock doesn't seem to have any affect, whether on or off.
Now, even if I unprotect the worksheet and unfreeze all cells scrolling with the arrow keys will still not work.
Any ideas folks?

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Hi

Mayb you have restricted the scroll area of the worksheet?

Try executing in vba:

Code:
ActiveSheet.ScrollArea = ""

or use the sheet properties dialog and clear the scrollarea (for ex. in the developer tab or in the vbeditor).

Good morning and thanks for the suggestions.

Looking at the sheet properties in the vbeditor the ScrollArea is blank.
I ran ActiveSheet.ScrollArea both from the Immediate Window and in vba, both to no avail.

I have some more information.
Other people use this spreadsheet as well.
For me it is not scrollable but for another user it is.
This would suggest it is not related to the spreadsheet, or would it?

Hi,
this is most bizzare.
I had left the spreadsheet open after completing your suggestions, which didn't resolve the problem.
When I subsequently tried the scroll again, without doing anything extra to the spreadsheet, it worked.
I saved the spreadsheet, closed it, reopened it and the problem was there again.
So I left the spreadsheet open without doing anything to it.
I came back to it later and the scroll problem has magically disappeared. Again without me doing anything to it.
Save the form, close it, reopen and the problem is back.
Any ideas? I'm mystified.

Some more information.
This is the sequence:
• Open the problem sheet
• Check for scrolling issue; issue present i.e. can't scroll past certain section of worksheet
• Open a new blank workbook, don't do anything with it, just open it
• Check for scrolling issue in problem sheet; issue resolved, scroll anywhere you like

This is me scratching my head.

Sorry, I don't know what the problem may be.

You could have some vba that would restrict the scroll during a certain time when the workbook opens but you seem to know your way around vba and so that should not be the case.

Just for completeness, it's unlikely the issue is caused by other vba.
This same behaviour happens on other users's pcs as well.

It is a bit of a strange one. And I haven't seen it before.
But at least I have a way around it.

Thanks again for your input.
