italiscize Text in a Formula

I am having an issue italicizing text in a formula and have run out of ideas.

My Formula is as like the one below

=" The following table summarizes the changes in fair value for all liabilities measured at fair value on a recurring basis using significant unobservable inputs (Level 3) for the "&X14&" "&TEXT(X12,"mmmm dd")&" "&X15&" (in thousands):"


It reads, the following table summarizes the changes in fair value for all liabilities measured at fair value on a recurring basis using significant unobservable inputs (Level 3) for the three months ended June 30, 2011 (in thousands)

I want in thousands italicized - I've read a bunch that I may need to use VBA, but i am not 100% how to write that code.

Any Ideas?

I think this can only be done (even if using VBA) if the formula is first replaced with its result.
