# Keep column reference static.

I'm using this code on a cell in a separate tab:

='Sammich Ham'!\$H\$3

Each month I add a new column between G and H moving the previous months data from H to I making room for the new months data in column H. Adding this new column changes the formula from
='Sammich Ham'!\$H\$3 to ='Sammich Ham'!\$I\$3 How can I make it so it will always stay as H

### Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Hi RodneyC,

You could always make it a string and use INDIRECT

Excel Formula:
``=INDIRECT("'Sammich Ham'!\$H\$3")``

or use the offset, if F is not moving then the every new H is 2 columns away from the fixed F
='Sammich Ham'!\$H\$3 to ='Sammich Ham'!\$I\$3
Excel Formula:
``=offset(Sammich Ham!\$F\$3,,2,,)``

Two solutions... THANK YOU both!
