Keep Formatting of a Referenced Cell

Hi everyone,

I've used Mr. Excel for quick sometime to get helpful info, but I've never posted a question! So, enough of me hiding in the shadows.

I have a sheet with all my data. This sheet has conditional formatting to highlight cells that contain a certain formula. I present this data frequently, so I have a separate sheet that references the cells I want data from. I then format that new sheet to be neat, clean, happy, etc.

However, when I reference those cells that are highlighted in sheet 1 (data sheet) on sheet 2 (nice sheet), the values return, but the formatting does not. Is the possible to do?

If not, is it possible to format a single cell WITHIN the function for that cell itself? For example, something like this:

=If(A2=2, B2, Format(A2=highlight).

I know that's bogus, but maybe something like that?

Thanks for the help!

Take care,
Kevin

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Thanks VoG for the tip. What about a formula or setting to allow referenced cells to retain the original cell's formula?
