Is there anyway to create a worksheet with some formulas, subtotals, % variable, max etc, where the formulas are kept but figures updated on a monthly basis?

A report with approximately 16 cols and 50 rows, imported from an accounting package provides the monthly figures; the report does not give me the stats I need.

I had hoped that by exporting the report to excel and linking the report spreadsheet named “cash flow” to a spreadsheet with the formulas named “formulas” I could just keep updating it.

As soon as I remove e.g. July’s “cash flow” spreadsheet rename it e.g. to “cash flow July” then replace it with August’s “cash flow” my formula page wants to stay linked to the renamed “cash flow July” and I can’t cut the link to July and link it to new August spreadsheet “cash flow”

Am I doing this all wrong??

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
soojosie,

Try this:
Do Edit>Links... from the Excel menu and click on the button that says "Change Source". This will open a dialogue box that will allow you to select the file you want all those formulas linked to. Pick the new file instead of the old one and it should update all the formulas for you. Save the file to capture the new links.
